The EHS Athletic Department is pleased to announce the creation of a new athletic website.  This website will allow us to update schedules, results and information more consistently.  It will also allow us to communicate with parents and media in a more timely manner.  Please visit this new site at

Corn Belt Conference Baseball - REVISED SCHEDULE

The Corn Belt Conference baseball tournament for today (May 4, 2012) has been postponed.  Below is a revised schedule.

Saturday (all games @ McGraw Park  - Central Catholic HS)


11am - completion of the U-High vs Eureka game
noon - completion of the Mahomet-Seymour vs Prairie Central game
1:30pm - winner of the U-High/Eureka game vs Rantoul
3:30pm - winner of the Mahomet-Seymour/Prairie Central game vs Central Catholic
6pm - 3rd place game (5 inning game)
7:45pm - Championship game

Additionally, losers bracket will be played at Olympia High School.

1:30pm - loser of the U-High/Eureka game vs Pontiac (5 inning game)

Girls Knock Off unbeaten EPG

The EHS girls basketball team knocked off previously unbeated and state-ranked El Paso-Gridley in the Knoxville Sectional semi-finals tonight.  The will play for the sectional title at Knoxville on Thursday, Feb. 16 at 7:30. 

A fan bus will leave EHS at 5:00 p.m.  All fans must sign up in the main office by 10:00 a.m., Feb. 16.  The bus will be free for all EHS students and $3.00 for all others.  Call the main office with questions....467-2361. 

Girls Basketball Sectionals at Knoxville HS - 2/14/12

A fan bus will be available for all students and fans on Tuesday, Feb 14 for the sectional semi-final game vs. El Paso-Gridley.  The game will be played at Knoxville High School at 7:30 p.m.  The cost is $3.00 and you must sign up in the main office by Tuesday 10:00 a.m. 

The bus will leave at 5:00 and return at approximately 10:00 p.m.

Congratulations to Girls BB and Wrestling on their recent regional championships.  Both squads also won the Corn Belt Conference Championship.

Girls Win St. Bede Tourney

Congratulations to Coach Prina and the varsity girls basketball team on winning the St. Bede Christmas Classic.  The Lady Hornets beat St. Bede in a thrilling, come from behind game 56-51.  Kalla Gold led the way with 33 points. 

Kalla Gold, Micheala Balducci and Kayla Bryant  were also named to the All-Tournament Team. 

Way to go girls....best of luck the second half of your season.

Basketball Christmas Tourney Information

Gold in 2nd after 1st round

Trevor Gold posted a 74 today in the first round of the Class A Boys Golf State Finals at Prairie Vista Golf Course in Bloomingotn.    He is in second place going into Saturday's final round.  He will be in the final group that will tee off at 10:27.  Spectators are welcome to come and watch.  Let's see a "swarm of hornets" in Bloomington tomorrow.

Sophomore Football vs. Hall High School is moved

The sophomore football game scheduled for 10/22/11 at Spring Valley Hall has been moved to Eureka on Friday, October 21 - 5:30.  This game will precede the varsity contest that evening vs. Hall. 

Trevor Gold qualifies for State Golf

Congratulations to EHS freshman Trevor Gold who finished 2nd at the Tuscola Sectional with a 74 and has now earned a spot in the State Finals on Friday, October 14 and Saturday, October 15.  Good luck to Trevor...

Also, congrats to the boys golf team who narrowly missed qualifying for state as a team.  The Hornets had a spectacular year and were led by seniors Gabe Swords and Quint Noe.  Other sectional qualifying members included:  Trevor Gold, Dylan Price, Dylan Knapp and Luke Eigsti

The Hornets are coached by Mr. Dohner.

Green and White Scrimmage

The EHS football team will be hosting a scrimmage on Saturday, August 20 at 6:00 p.m.  Admission is free.  Please stop out to catch of glimpse of this years squad. 

Parent-Athlete Meeting

EHS will be hosting a Parent-Athlete meeting on Monday, August 8 at 6:00 p.m. in the High School auditorium.  All atheltes and their parents are highly encouraged to attend.

Hornet's Advance in Regional Softball

The varsity softball team beat Peoria Christian last night, 2-0,  in regional action.  They advance to today's semi-final game to take on unbeaten Farmington High School at 4:30 at Eureka College.

Corn Belt Baseball Tourney - Schedule Change

Today's CB Tourney Game has been changed to a 8:00 p.m. start.  The bus will leave at 6:15. 

The game will be played at McGraw  Field; which is behind BCC High School. 

EHS hosts IHSA Regionals

Eureka High School will be hosting both the baseball and softball regionals next week.  The softball regional will be held at Eureka College on May 17 and 18 at 4:30.  The championship game will take place on Saturday, May 21 at 11:00 a.m.  Ours girls open play on Monday, May 16 at Peoria Christian - 4:30. 

The baseball regional will be played at EMS on May 18 and 19 at 4:30.  The championship game will take place on Saturday, May 21 at 11:00 a.m.  Our boys play Thursday, May 19 vs. BCC. 

Come out and support the Hornets.  Admission is $4.00 per person at each event. 

Blackout Night at EHS

Fall Regional Info

We are excited to be hosting 2 IHSA Regional's this fall.  The Cross Country Regional will be held on Saturday, Oct 23 at Lower Lake Park.  The girls race begins at 11:00.  The boys race will begin at 11:45.  Awards are scheduled for 12:30. 

We are also hosting the Class 2A Volleyball Regional on Thursday, Oct. 28 and Saturday, Oct. 30.  Both nights begin at 6:00 p.m. with Saturday being the championship match.

Sectional Golf

Congratulations to Nate Hartman, Quint Noe, Kati Bloyd and Elly Vance for qualifying for the Sectional Golf Tourney last week.  Nate and Quint will compete in the Havana Sectional.  Kati  and Elly will compete in the Camp Point Central Sectional. 

We are very proud of our golfers and wish them the best of luck.

The fall season is fast approaching.  Listed below are the try out and practice dates for all fall sports.  Please remember that all athletes must have an updated physical in order to try out or practice. 

Boys and Girls Golf - 8:00 a.m. - Kaufman Park - August 11

Cheer - no tryouts....practice begins Aug. 9 - 3:00-5:00 at high school.
Cross Country - Practice will be held at the Eureka Lake Pavillion at 4:00 - August 11
Football - Parent meeting August 9 - 6:00 in EHS gym. Pratice begins August 11 - 8:00-10:30
Soccer - at Roanoke - August 11 at 8:00 am and 3:15 pm.
Dance - Practice starts Aug 12 - 3:45-5:30
Girls Swim -  August 11 at Eureka College - 5:30-7:30
Volleyball - tryouts will be August 11th-13th from 8-10am and 4-6pm at EHS.

Hornet Golf Outing - July 9

The 3rd Annual Hornet Open is set to tee off on July 9 at Pine Lake Golf Course in Washington, IL.  There are still a few slots open and anyone interested in playing can contact, Jason Greene, EHS AD, at greenej@district140.org.  Deadline to enter is July 1. 

Cost is $70.00/person and includes prizes, golf and dinner.  A shotgun start is set for noon. 

All proceeds benefit the Hornet Athletic Booster Club.

Baseball and Softball at Woodland - 3/30/10

The baseball and softball games today (3/30/30) will be played at Woodland High School in Streator.  Both fields are located directly behind the high school. 

Two EHS Grads Nabbed for Hall of Fame


50% of the 2010 class inducted into the Greater Peoria Sports Hall of Fame are Eureka High School graduates! Marty Stromberger (center) and Mike Chianakas (right) were both inducted during a ceremony at the Peoria Civic Center on March 14. Congratulations to both men on their outstanding achievement! They are pictured above at the ceremony with another Eureka grad, Jack Stromberger (left).

Sectional Girls Basketball Information

Congratulations to the EHS Lady Hornets on their thrilling Regional Championship victory over the IVC Grey Ghosts. In a tough fought game, the girls prevailed 46-43 behind Caty Eeten's 22 pts. and an awesome team effort.

The girls advance to the Monmouth Sectional and play the Illini West Regional Winner on Monday, Feb. 15 - 8:00. These games will be played at Monmouth College.

Advance tickets are $5.00 and will go on sale in the main office beginning at 8:00 a.m. - Monday.

All players and their families will have the option to purchase as many tickets as they need starting Friday afternoon.

A fan bus will be offered for both students and parents. It will depart at 5:00 p.m. and will cost $5.00 to ride. Please call the main office to sign up.

Cheer Squad Heads to State

Congratulations to the EHS Cheerleaders who have qualified for this weekend's IHSA State Cheer Competition. The girls will compete in the small division at 9:35 a.m. on Friday, February 5 at the U.S. Cellular Coliseum in Bloomington, IL.

The girls qualified by winning the Sectional competition this past weekend in Colfax, IL. Good luck to all our girls and our coaches. We are proud of you.

Hornets Make All Tourney Team

Kyle Fellner, Ethan Thorne and Josh Prosser were selected to the All Tournament Team at the Hawk Classic in Fairbury last week. The Hornet's placed 2nd in this tournament with wins over Tri Point, Prairie Central and Iroquois West. The Hornet's were clipped by Dwight (14-0) in the Championship Game.

Volleyball Players Honored

Congratulations to Kelsey Holman and Caty Eeten on being named to the Panatagraph All Area Volleyball Team.

Kelsey was selected to the 1st team and will continue her playing career at ISU.

Caty was selected to the 2nd team and is currently leading the Hornets on the hardwood.

We are proud of both of these young ladies...way to go.

Schedule Correction - Boys Basketball

A previously published boys basketball schedule had an incorrect date. The 12/1/09 date vs. Olympia was moved to 12/4/09. The change was made several weeks ago, but again was listed incorrectly in our student handbook. We apologize for the confusion and hope to see everyone on Friday night.

Hornets take Peoria Christian Tourney

The EHS girls basketball team, behind 16 points from Caty Eeten, went 3-0 in the PC Tourney to take home the championship. The Hornets soundly defeated Tremont and Fieldcrest on Saturday and "gutted out" a victory vs. Peoria Christian (33-27) on Monday night.

The Hornets will take their 3-1 record to Prairie Central on Thursday, December 3.

Good luck the rest of the year to Coach Zehr and the girls.

Eeten scores 1000th career point

Congratulations to Caty Eeten who scored her 1000th career point on Saturday night at the Peoria Christian Tourney. She went on to lead her team to a 42 - 19 victory over the Fieldcrest Knights.

The Hornets play tonight (11/23/09) for the tourney title. Tip off is 7:30 at Peoria Christian High School.

Cross Country off to State

Good luck to Coach Charlton and all the cross country runners this weekend at the state meet. The girls race will begin at 9:00 a.m followed by the boys race at 10:00 a.m. The awards ceremony will begin at 11:00 a.m. The state meet is held at Detweiler Park in Peoria.

10/16/09 - Rantoul Football Game Change

Due to wet field conditions in Rantoul they have decided to postpone the freshman game until Monday 10/19 at Rantoul - 6:00.  As a result of this cancellation, the varsity game will start at 7:00 p.m. tonight.  The team bus will leave today at 3:30 and not 4:00 as originally scheduled.

The freshman team bus for Monday will also leave at 3:30. 

Homecoming Parade - Friday at 3:00

The EHS Homecoming Parade will take place on Friday, October 9 beginning at 3:00 p.m.   The traditional route will be followed and every effort will be made to have the parade...regardless of rain.  Please check this website after 1:00 today for the latest details or for a cancellation announcement.

Blackout Night at EHS

Eureka High School will be hosting an Easter Seals event on Friday, September 11 during the varsity football game. The goal is for every fan in attendance to wear a black Easter Seals shirt to show their support for Easter Seals. To help raise funds and awareness, EHS football players will be selling t-shirts for $12.00. Shirts are now available and should be worn the night of the game. Three Firsts for the EHS Softball Program

The Eureka softball team placed five members on the Corn Belt All Conference Team. Erin Hoelscher, Caty Eeten, Austen Knapp, Chelsea Clawson, & Shelby Payne all made the team.

Also, Chelsea Clawson was chosen to represent Eureka in the Bloomington Pantagraph All Star Game, played on June 15.

In addition, Caty Eeten was a third team selection on the AP All State Team for Class 2A.

All three of these accomplishments are firsts for the softball program at EHS. Congratulations girls!

Courtney Martin Signs with Judson University

Congratulations to Courtney Martin who signed a letter of intent to continue her academic and volleyball career at Judson University in Elgin, IL. Courtney is a 2-time varsity letter winner in volleyball and has served as team captain. She has also been involved in basketball and softball.

We wish Courtney the best of luck and we are confident that she will accomplish great things in the future. Thank you for all your hard work and dedication to EHS Athletics. Your leadership will be greatly missed.

The varsity softball game at Ridgeview has been cancelled for tonight.

The varsity baseball team will play Fieldcrest tonight at Eureka Middle School at 4:15.
